Sounding like the Nineties: “Mole” promises the Return

Alex Jorge "Mole" has been a tireless musician. In the Cuban rock and extreme metal scene he is known above all for his longest-running work: the band MEPHISTO, the first to integrate symphonic Black metal sounds on the island and active from 1996 until today in the province of Holguín. However, in parallel, Mole has maintained other projects. Recently the JEFFREY DAHMER’s videos, inclined to brutal Death, have been disseminated and are a proof of the wide musical arc within metal in which this guitarist, bassist and composer can undertake.

In 2019, Mole paid a debt to the Cuban metal memory and to his own experience in the scene. Around that time, he concluded the DESTROZER’s remake, the band in which he debuted as a metalhead in Holguín and throughout Cuba in the early nineties. Although his first lineup was as MORBO, oriented to Thrash, but the Death metal impact made him change towards that sound. In the midst of the existing extreme metal rejection at that time, even within the rock environment itself, DESTROZER performed in the City of Parks (Holguin); in the Caibarién festival (Villa Clara), and also in the Marianao Amphitheater (Havana). “Blaspheme Orgies”, the five track new recording has been disseminated digitally already and is about to come out in physical format. The birth of the hardest metal sounds in the country are recovered. But, Mole doesn't stop there. At the same time, he has been working on the re-recording of DYING FOREST, a doom-style project he also created at the time.

Sonando a los noventa: Mole promete el retorno

Alex Jorge “Mole” ha sido un músico incansable. En la escena del rock y del metal extremo cubano es conocido sobre todo por su trabajo de más larga duración: la banda MEPHISTO, primera en integrar sonidos del Black metal sinfónico en la isla y activa desde 1996 hasta hoy en la provincia Holguín. No obstante, en paralelo, Mole ha mantenido otros proyectos. Recientemente se han difundido los videos de JEFFREY DAHMER que, inclinado al brutal Death, da cuenta del amplio arco musical dentro del metal en el que puede moverse este guitarrista, bajista y compositor.

En el 2019, Mole saldó una deuda con la memoria del metal cubano y con su propia experiencia en esa escena. Por esa fecha concluyó el remake de DESTROZER, el grupo con el que debutó como metalero en Holguín y en toda Cuba a inicios de los noventa. Aunque su primera alineación fue MORBO, orientada al Thrash, el impacto del Death Metal lo hizo cambiar hacia esos sonidos. En medio del rechazo al metal extremo existente en esa ápoca hasta en el propio ambiente del rock, DESTROZER se presentó “arrancando cabezas” en la Ciudad de los Parques; en el festival de Caibarién (Villa Clara), y también en el Anfiteatro de Marianao (La Habana). Con los cinco temas del Blaspheme Orgies —que a partir de esta nueva grabación se ha diseminado digitalmente y está a punto de salir en formato físico—se recuperan sonidos del nacimiento del metal más duro en el país.
