Extreme metal legends GOD DETHRONED have returned to offer up their latest sacrifice: their new album The Judas Paradox arrives on September 6th, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music.

Lyrically, The Judas Paradox delves deep into the catacombs of religion, drawing inspiration from mythology from all over the world. Though musically diverse, the songs are linked by themes such as the story of Judas, the secrets of the Vatican, powerful demons, the symbolism behind tarot cards, and the nature of good and evil. GOD DETHRONED takes the listener on a thrilling, thought-provoking journey from Christian history to Greek mythology, complete with layers of dark, heavy riffs and nuanced classical touches.

About GOD DETHRONED:

GOD DETHRONED was formed by mainman Henri Sattler in 1990. After an initial demo, they released their debut album The Christhunt in 1992 on a tiny German label. Due to problems with the other band members and the record company, Henri dissolved the band, then re-formed GOD DETHRONED with a new lineup.

Over the years, many successful tours followed in Europe, the U.S., and Japan with legendary death and black metal acts like CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL, IMMORTAL, and MARDUK. GOD DETHRONED have also played at renowned festivals such as Dynamo Open Air, Wacken, Graspop, and Summer Breeze.

The band went on hiatus in 2012 after performing at 70,000 Tons Of Metal, when they decided that they needed a break after more than 20 years on the road. After the death of his former label boss, Henri realized that he needed music in his life more than anything else, and reunited GOD DETHRONED in 2014. From there, they continued touring and added several more albums to their discography.

In early fall of 2023, the band starting writing and recording a new album called The Judas Paradox. This album adds another dimension to the band's long history of composing diverse albums. The title track of the album deals with the idea of Judas as a scapegoat, used in a scheme to create a king for this world, and Jesus's response to Judas being trapped in this scheme. Release is scheduled for September 6, 2024 through the record label which is now called Reigning Phoenix Music. Exciting times await us as the first tours are in the works.
