BAND OF THE WEEK: LESBIAN BED DEATH

LESBIAN BED DEATH Midnight Lust (Wormholedeath/ 2024)
Midnight Lust had a Bandcamp release in December 2023 and a worldwide one on March by Wormholedeath Records. LESBIAN BED DEATH has a moniker that doesn't give you the right idea of the music the band performs, depending on your views could be a positive or a negative thing. However, this last album has much more to say in the band’s cohesion and styles. For those who recently discovered this band, like me, will be surprised that they are not new in the scene, as they have been making their way in the UK since 2004. They have incorporated more Rock and Roll, more garage punk and eighties Hard Rock cuts at times. Personally, I notice that this is a more mature and better stylistically directed album. Without a doubt, an album that will greatly boost the English four-piece career. I would highlight tracks like “Road Kill”, “Satanic Suicide Sex Cult”, “The Antichrist”, “She Loves Lilith” and “Rhythm of the Kill” and also the voice of JJ Connors, which is in perfect harmony with the music. It has the strength and is very in tune with each musical segment. It’s a very tight album where all notes have been carefully crafted. I really believe that you should approach this thirteen-song album without any prejudice, and you will discover interesting songs and a very refreshing contribution to Rock and Roll. 8.9/10

The early moments:
“… I (Dan Peach) had a vision for the band a long time ago. I wanted to do something fun that drew influences from the Goth, Punk, and Glam bands I grew up with, and had a Horror Theme like Alice Cooper. That was the template, and the band’s sound has developed over the years. The band was formed as a side-project in 2004 but has evolved considerably since then. We are from Stoke-on-Trent, UK…”

The current:
LESBIAN BED DEATH has always been part Goth, part Punk, and part Heavy Metal. Our new album, Midnight Lust leans more towards Heavy Metal than any of our previous albums. We embraced some heavy riffs and coupled them with catchy melodies, so we still sound like the same band but just a little more crushing. Many of our songs have Horror themes, but some are open to different interpretations, including depression, sex, loss, and resilience. This is the music that just feels right.

The local scene:
“… Our local scene has improved, but generally Rock fans are more interested in what is already familiar, as opposed to making the effort to explore the wonderful and plentiful original and upcoming art on offer. Tribute and cover bands seem to do exceptionally well, and it’s a struggle for new bands to get noticed. We have found that our band is more popular away from home. That’s OK though, as it’s nice to travel…”

The Present and the Upcoming:
“… We are planning more shows to support our Midnight Lust album and are working on taking the tour outside of the UK. We are also working on new material for the soundtrack to my upcoming movie, Satan’s Cellar. It would be lovely to be a bigger band and be able to do what we do full time. We love to play live and meet new people, so we’re already living the dream. It would be nice if our dream could be a little larger. We want to tour a lot more and reach a larger audience. We are always writing and recording, and it shouldn’t be too long before we can release something brand-new…”

The Statement:
“… We’re all extremely proud of our new album, Midnight Lust, and can’t wait for you to hear it. If you haven’t already, it contains all the ingredients that one would expect from us, but also plenty of surprises to keep things fresh and exciting. For those new to LESBIAN BED DEATH, welcome to our world of Horror and loud guitars. We’ve released six music videos and a lyric video to promote this album so far, so make sure you check them out, and enjoy stepping into our world. JJ Connor – vocals, Dan Peach – guitar, Leisl Heath – bass, and Aimee Violet – drums …”
