ORPHAN AUTOPSY is a band from Havana, the capital of Cuba and it was formed in 2019. If I remember correctly, at first, they performed live with a drums machine until the experienced Alex Ricardo (DARKNESS FALL/ CRAMPUS) joined and thus completed the lineup. The rest of the band are Robin Lazaro on bass and vocals, Anthony Medina on guitar and backing vocals, and the main vocals are carried out by Manuel Lavastida. The music goes along within a very direct, catchy, but simple brutal Slam Death metal. The eight songs and the intro in this debut album are a good reflection of all of the above. “Blistering Deprive from Sanity” has all the elements that make this style attractive, although it’s obvious that this musical endeavor is not free from resembling those who marked or mark a path in this style. However, I believe that ORPHAN AUTOPSY has taken a good step forward and they show tremendous confidence in what they do. They record and master the album independently, and there is much more merit in having released it this way. I recognize this current five-piece perseverance because not many bands in Cuba, in such a short time, decide to release a debut album.
“Blistering Deprive from Sanity” has decent sound quality, and although the drums in some song’s segments sound artificial to me, I do think it can compete internationally, in fact, it has been licensed under the English label Rotten Music. The only suggestion that I would dare to give away is that they do not overuse the sub-bass "effect" to highlight some segments because it becomes monotonous and repetitive and brings them closer to their musical reference, the Belarusians EXTERMINATION DISMEMBERMENT, although I would also cite Texans DEVOURMENT as a band they look up to. The cover and booklet artwork is impressive, and I don’t think something like this has been done before in Cuba. It’s true that Cuban acts like JEFFREY DAHMER have recreated the gore theme, but not at this graphic level. In a general sense, “Blistering Deprive from Sanity” is another release that manages to get out from that jail-like island, where both citizens and art are kidnapped and forced to the mediocrity of an absurd totalitarian regime. My greatest desire is that this release denotes Cuba as a country where metal is also alive, and hopefully in the future, both art and its citizens will be free. 7/10

ORPHAN AUTOPSY es una banda que sale desde la capital de Cuba en el año 2019. Si mal no recuerdo en un inicio se presentaban en sus conciertos con batería secuenciada hasta que el experimentado Alex Ricardo (DARKNESS FALL/ CRAMPUS) se les une y así completan el lineup. Los restantes instrumentistas son Robin Lazaro al bajo y voces, Anthony Medina en la guitarra y coros, mientras que las voces principals corren por Manuel Lavastida. La música se mueve por los caminos del Slam brutal Death metal muy directo, pegadizo, pero sencillo y este disco debut de ocho temas y un intro es un buen reflejo de todo lo anterior. “Blistering Deprive from Sanity” tiene todos los elementos que hacen atractivo este estilo, aunque como es obvio, este engendro musical no se libra de parecerse a los que marcaron o marcan un camino en este estilo. Sin embargo, considero que ORPHAN AUTOPSY ha dado un buen paso y evidencian tremenda seguridad en lo que hacen. La grabación y masterización del disco corrió por ellos de manera independiente, y hay mucho más mérito por haberlo sacado de esta manera. Reconozco la perseverancia del actual cuarteto porque no muchas bandas dentro de Cuba, en tan poco tiempo, se deciden a sacar un primer disco.
“Blistering Deprive from Sanity” tiene muy buena calidad de sonido para, y aunque el drums en algunas partes de canciones, me suena artificial, sí creo que puede competir internacionalmente, de hecho sale licenciado bajo el sello inglés Rotten Music. La única sugerencia que me atrevería a regalar es que no usen o abusen tanto del “efecto” de sub baja para resaltar algunos segmentos porque se vuelve algo monótono y además los acerca más a su referencia musical, los Bielorrusos EXTERMINATION DISMEMBERMENT, aunque los Texanos DEVOURMENT también los citaría como refenrecia. El trabajo de diseño de portada e interiors es impresionante. No creo que se haya hecho algo como esto anteriormente en Cuba. Sí ha habido bandas que han reflejado la temática gore como JEFFREY DAHMER, pero no con este nivel de ilustraciones y concordancia. En sentido general “Blistering Deprive from Sanity” es otro lanzamiento que logra salir de las rejas de esa isla cárcel, donde tanto los ciudadanos como el arte, están secuestrados y obligados a la mediocridad de un totalitarismo absurdo. Mi mayor deseo es que este lanzamiento denote a Cuba como un país donde también se hace metal y ojalá en un futuro tanto el arte como sus ciudadanos sean libres. 7/10
