Finnish progressive melodic death metal band NUMENTO releases a new single from their upcoming EP, a true-crime-inspired story about shared psychosis.

"Folie à Deux", meaning “madness of two” or “shared psychosis,” is Numento’s most theatrical and dramatic song to date. It is a chilling, true-crime-inspired story of tragic love, centered around a shared and distorted illusion of love built on control and lies. The psychosis is so deeply intertwined with identities that breaking free would require the complete destruction of a sense of self. Yet, staying in a familiar hell feels easier — with fatal consequences. Two perspectives woven into the lyrics add further depth to the story which ultimately reaches a devastating conclusion.

Driven by Numento’s trademark instrument, kantele, and its remarkable role in the arrangement, the song opens like a haunting, dark waltz before unfolding into soaring, unforgettable guitar melodies. Folie à Deux culminates in crushing black metal-influenced passages and dissonant harmonies, mirroring the story’s descent from twisted romance into chaos and destruction.

Folie à Deux is part of Numento’s upcoming EP, which has already seen three singles released and is set for release later this year.

Numento is a five-piece progressive melodic death metal band from Finland. In their music, extreme metal styles are combined with a phenomenal and versatile female voice, ranging from operatic to deep growls. In selected songs, the Finnish national instrument kantele is adding a very unique, eerie sound to the atmosphere. The explosive live energy has earned the band the nickname "Prog Bomb". Numento always leaves the audience in awe with their aggressive sound, ethereal atmosphere and energetic live shows with jaw-dropping vocal performance.

The band's hard-working touring in Finland have built a solid audience, Numento has also performed successfully in Estonia and in February 2026 at the Sandstorm Metal Festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Numento has won the Tuska-torstai band competition 2022 and achieved second place in the international Wacken Metal Battle finals in Germany in 2025. NUMENTO is not a traditional band of melodic Death metal. I am pretty sure you will be surprised by their musical twists and turns and solid arrangements. Scriptorium Magazine highly recommends this avant-garde piece.

La banda finlandesa de death metal melódico progresivo NUMENTO lanza un nuevo sencillo de su próximo EP: una historia inspirada en un caso real sobre la psicosis compartida.

"Folie à Deux" —que significa "locura de dos" o "psicosis compartida"— es la canción más teatral y dramática de Numento hasta la fecha. Se trata de una historia escalofriante de amor trágico, inspirada en hechos reales, centrada en una ilusión amorosa compartida y distorsionada, cimentada en el control y la mentira. La psicosis está tan profundamente entrelazada con las identidades de los protagonistas que liberarse de ella exigiría la destrucción total de su propio sentido del yo. Sin embargo, permanecer en un infierno conocido parece más fácil, aunque ello conlleve consecuencias fatales. La inclusión de dos perspectivas en la letra aporta mayor profundidad a una historia que desemboca en un desenlace devastador.

Impulsada por el *kantele* —instrumento distintivo de Numento— y su destacado papel en los arreglos, la canción comienza como un vals oscuro y inquietante antes de dar paso a melodías de guitarra elevadas e inolvidables. "Folie à Deux" culmina con pasajes demoledores influenciados por el *black metal* y armonías disonantes, reflejando así el descenso de la historia desde un romance retorcido hacia el caos y la destrucción.

"Folie à Deux" forma parte del próximo EP de Numento, del cual ya se han publicado tres sencillos y cuyo lanzamiento está previsto para finales de este año.
